At a recent meeting of The Strandhill Show and Craft Fair it was decided, following lengthy debate and reflection, that the annual show will be discontinued pro tempore. Due to the pandemic the show was not held over the past two years.
For a number of years the membership of the organising committee has been dwindling and despite unsuccessful efforts to augment the committee membership it was decided that given the paucity of members we were no longer in a position to continue to hold this annual event.
Strandhill Gymkhana of times past was revived in 1977 after 42 years and assumed the title Strandhill Gymkhana and Craft Fair and ever since has been held in the beautiful and panoramic setting of Lisheen House by the kind goodwill of the Lindsay Family. In 2010, due to recessionary times and unpredictable weather conditions , the equine section was discontinued and the name was changed to Strandhill Show and Craft fair.
The Show and Craft Fair has been a much anticipated and well supported event during the years providing varied entertainment for all the family.
We wish to thank our volunteers and sponsors who gave so generously of their time and financial support to make this a hugely enjoyable day through the years.
